Workin' 9 to 5...

Yeah!... more like 5 to 9!!! Josh has been working his lil' butt off! I honestly never see him! And I wouldn't generally say this, but I guess I'm ok with it because I know how hard he's working!... how important this is to him and his determination to go above and beyond what is required of his skills and knowledge! Mid-terms and finals are always "hell" week! And, right now we are in the second week of mid-terms! Life is pretty intense here!... lots of work and little sleep! Definitely can't wait for a break together!!! :)
This is what Josh had to say in an e-mail to family:
We have been working really hard these past weeks, and I have found out how difficult it really is to maneuver a drill in the mouth. It is one thing to drill teeth on the bench top and quite another to do the same thing in someone's mouth. Or in this case my manikin's (Rick's) mouth. We had our first preclinical exam on drilling and filling teeth. It was a two part exam where we had to fill a previously prepared tooth and then drill (prepare) another. I passed the filling portion (scored a 80), but not the drilling portion (just missed by 6 points, needed a 68 scored 62). In fact, there were very few students that passed the drilling portion of the exam. The grading is quite subjective, in that one faculty member would have passed me and another wouldn't. But that is okay, chalk it up to experience, and all it does for me is piss me off and make me work harder. I think that I have a little bit of an ego, and I am taking the make up exam this week. These next two weeks are going to be a killer, we have exams in occlusion, periodontics, & amalgams (class II preps). Any how I am really trying to balance everything....
Here are a few pics of his friends/classmates..... just below Josh is Kualana or "Big K". And below "Rick" (Josh's manikin) is Mike C.
Pictures definitely help me to better understand the courses and procedures he's learning!!! I'm SO PROUD of him!!!! :)
